LookTwice is a personal publication and archive maintained by Johnathan Jonas. It publishes selected stories, notes, and records of recurring interests. It is not a social network, advertising platform, or user-account service.
Privacy
LookTwice does not provide user accounts, comments, advertising, or public profiles.
If you contact LookTwice by email, the information you send is used only to read and respond to that correspondence. Do not send sensitive information that is not necessary for the conversation.
LookTwice does not sell personal information or use personal information for advertising.
Analytics
LookTwice uses Umami Analytics to understand how the archive is used.
Umami may record information such as:
- the page visited;
- the referring website;
- browser and operating-system type;
- device type;
- approximate country;
- anonymous pageview and event data.
LookTwice uses this information to understand readership, improve navigation, and see which parts of the archive are useful.
LookTwice does not use advertising trackers, behavioral advertising, cross-site profiling, session replay, or marketing pixels.
Selected interactions may be recorded as anonymous events, including RSS, email, GitHub, and related-entry link clicks. These events are used only to understand how readers navigate the archive.
The tracker records pageviews automatically. These selected interactions use the named events rss-click, footer-email-click, footer-github-click, and related-entry-click. Related-entry events include only the target collection and entry ID. Event data does not include names, email addresses, article text, journal content, or other personal data. Ordinary navigation and visits to this notice use standard pageviews only; no separate legal-page or 404 event is sent.
Cookies
LookTwice does not use cookies for analytics, advertising, or behavioral profiling.
The current Umami tracking implementation is cookie-free. Because LookTwice does not use cookie-based analytics or advertising trackers, the site does not currently display a cookie-consent banner.
If the site later adopts technology that stores nonessential information on a visitor’s device or requires consent, this notice and the consent experience must be reviewed before that technology is deployed.
Hosting and technical records
LookTwice is delivered through third-party hosting and infrastructure services. Those services may process technical request information needed to provide, secure, and diagnose the site.
LookTwice does not use those technical records for advertising or behavioral profiling.
